On May 29th 2005 Memorial Day weekend 23 kids had already drowned in Texas. Of that 23 my 4 year old daughter Bria was one. This was my daughters first and last time going to swim. Every day after that it seem to be a drowning, I felt helpless, I was trying to figure out what can I do to raise awareness and help these families. At this point it became very clear to me that I had to do something. The first opportunity came to me when I was asked to be a part of a water safety event at that time called April Pools Day. This would be my first public appearance since I had lost my Bria. I had no idea just sharing my story would bring about change. Below you will see a few families who received FREE SWIMMING LESSONS this past Summer.
